3. THE REMARKABLE POWER OF YOUR INTUITION
By Jane Mountrose
With our work on the Intuitive Techniques program and January Intuitive Techniques seminar, our focus in recent weeks has been almost solely on intuitive development. We have spent hours exploring the soul’s gifts, the dimensions of reality, the how people energetically, the progression of the spiritual path, and more. This concentration on our intuition has given us a unique opportunity to look at our reality more from the perspective of our higher (inner) senses, which include our inner vision, inner hearing, inner feeling, inner smelling and tasting, and inner knowing.
Of course, we have spent over 25 years exploring spiritual development and, in the process, we have learned many things. With our recent work, we have shifted even further from relying on our five physical senses to define our reality to relying on our higher senses. This shift has shown us how much we all (people in general) are limited by the perceptions of the five physical senses and the corresponding third-dimensional perspective that most people consider to be all there is to life. Since the third dimension is where our focus generally lies, we usually view ourselves and those around us from this point-of-view, quickly rejecting the glimpses our higher senses provide into the other dimensions. Yet, when our attention shifts more to our higher senses, as ours has recently, the picture changes. Immense beauty and wisdom springs forth from each and every one of us, when we view each other and our reality from the perspective of the soul and the higher senses.
When I first came across the concept of the aura and the idea that we are surrounded by a field of energy, I assumed that this energy is a reflection of the physical body. I suppose this is a natural assumption for a person with a 3d perspective, because we view our physical reality as the most real. It took me some time and some firsthand experience with subtle energies to recognize that this assumption is incorrect. Actually, the physical body is a reflection of the more subtle fields of energy that surround us. As the most dense representation of ourselves, it is actually the most limited, and in a higher sense, the least real.
The same can be said of the physical senses and higher senses. It is logical from a 3d perspective that the perceptions of our five physical senses would seem to be the most real, because this is where our attention lies. Yet actually they are more limited and less real than the perceptions of our higher senses, which we so quickly reject.
A KEY TO OPENING TO OUR INTUITION
It should not surprise us that proving the existence of our higher senses and our intuitive abilities is so challenging from a 3d perspective. Our physical senses are not capable of verifying the existence of the higher dimensions and the higher powers that exist within us.
This understanding can be a key to opening to our intuition. Rather than expecting to bring our higher perceptions down to 3d perspective, we have to rise to their multi-dimensional point-of-view. This is a new experience for many of us: learning to give the perceptions of our higher senses the same credence as the perceptions of our physical senses. Yet, we have seen that the potential for growth when we do this is astounding. It can transform our understanding of the events of our daily lives and reality itself.
The human energy system shows us that we are designed to embrace a multi-dimensional perspective. In addition to the physical body and our five physical senses, each of us has emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects (lower and higher) that provide access to our higher senses. To be complete, fully-functional human beings, all of these aspects need to be active parts of our lives.
So, the basic question is how do we embrace this higher perspective? The main thing that holds us back is the rational mind, which is oriented almost exclusively to the physical world and the physical senses. It has its place, but not in our intuitive development. To open to our intuition, we need to bypass the logical, rational part of the mind and reach into the imaginative, creative part of the mind and the realms of the soul. The most effective tool we have found for doing this is writing. We describe the power of journaling in our books, but, from what we can tell, most of our readers still don’t use this transformational tool.
Years ago, when we began to explore the soul and connect with its reality, I started to write down my perceptions when I was in a soul-centered state. I found this to be the easiest way to bypass my rational mind and access my higher wisdom. With practice, it became easier and easier, and I realized that with this tool, I could easily receive higher guidance, understand symbolic images, connect with unconscious parts of myself, interpret dreams, and more. It opened new worlds to me. I went from being completely baffled by the symbols in my dreams and visualizations to having total confidence in the truth I found within myself through writing. If I woke up from a vivid dream, rather than wondering what it was about all day, I could simply connect with my soul and write its meaning down on paper in just a few minutes. If I experienced difficulty at work, I could get a soulful perspective on the situation through writing. If I was wondering what direction to take in my life, I could access my higher wisdom through writing. It was like magic. With time, I also found that I began to access the information I was seeking without writing, and, when that did not work, that I could go back to writing to receive the guidance I needed.
To the many people who tell us that intuitive development is important to them, we highly recommend writing while in a soul-centered state as one of the most effective ways to get started. If you want to open to your intuition, understand your dreams, and live your divine purpose, this could be an important key. And if you feel reluctant to trying it or like it would not work for you, you can clear any blockages that are in your way with EFT or Spiritual Kinesiology.
