MARKETING FROM A LOWER AND HIGHER PERSPECTIVE
Marketing is a process of offering a product or service, which people wish to buy. That is a rather 3-D definition. Marketing involves many activities such as promoting and exchanging goods and services. To use the last word differently, good marketing is about service and helping others in a genuine, heartfelt way.
From a higher perspective, marketing is simply sharing with and educating others, offering them something of benefit, in a way where everyone feels good about the experience. Such marketing involves following your joy and excitement, the energy that sparks you soul. This kind of joyful "marketing" leads to synchronicity, manifestation, and fulfillment.
RELUCTANCE TO DO MARKETING
Let's see what might be holding you back. If you're confused about marketing, don't have a solid overview and action plan, it's likely you won't be satisfied with your results. Yes you have the integrity and something wonderful to offer. But marketing -- your delivery system -- requires training. Certain skills and information are needed to succeed. We're talking about making your dreams and goals a reality.
From a spiritual perspective, you are providing others (and yourself) an opportunity to choose love instead of fear, of creating a better life. Every purchase/investment you make is voting on the reality you want. So you're providing an opportunity, which some will choose to take now, some later, some not at all... in any regard, it is a valuable process.
NOT A "NATURAL" SALESPERSON?
We are hardly "natural" salespeople. Phillip had a background as a school teacher; Jane a background as an architect and artist. But we had a strong desire to grow, connect with our soul, and follow our purpose of helping others fulfill their highest potential. At a certain point, as we went from part-time to full-time in our own holistic business, we realized marketing was an essential bridge we needed to build to let people know what we had to offer.
We had to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, going from working for others (employee) to working for ourselves. Even if you do work for others, it's still good to cultivate the independent entrepreneurial spirit. It will uplift your life, help you overcome obstacles and accomplish your life work (which may not be your current occupation).
So we also studied marketing while we developed the content of what we had to offer. We had to separate some of the hype and manipulation that is sometimes there, and tailor things to what we do. Our many "mistakes" lessened as we continued to grow, study, experiment and use what worked in a satisfying way to us.
CLEARING BLOCKS
If the subject of marketing daunts you, which is normal for many, then it's a perfect time to start clearing fears and doubts with EFT or Spiritual Kinesiology. Eventually, if you need to, you'll integrate positive "marketing-friendly" beliefs like "life is an adventure" and "I'm handling uncertainty, fulfilling my purpose, and have much visible and invisible support."
You can't really fail by reaching out to others from a sincere, heartfelt place. There is no such thing as failure, just input and feedback. That "input and feedback" makes you grow spiritually and enables you to help others better.
HOW MARKETING CAN SPIRITUALIZE THE WORLD
If you help others, you promote a vibrant life. If you stagnate, you suffer a slow death.
People often have something great to share but get tongue-tied when it comes time to tell people about it. Perhaps there's a fear of being pushy or making waves. Understandable concerns, but certainly correctable things and not a good reason to call it quits.
We've seen many spiritually-minded folks get stopped in their tracks because of fears of marketing. We've certainly been there. That is why we developed the "How to Market Your Holistic/Spiritual Business" Program so people could get the essential overview, information, and tools they need to succeed. It took us many years and much investment to learn what we now can share with others.
By learning how to offer your talents and services with integrity and clarity, you also play a part in clearing out the corrupt marketing that overflows the marketplace. So you're helping on that societal level as well.
SUMMARY AND TURNING LEAD INTO GOLD
As we see it, it's not really about "selling." Yes, goods and services are exchanged for a fee. Yet it's really about letting people choose to live more fully and freely.
It's fine whether a person accepts your offer or not -- you may be planting a seed. And since you are offering your services in a coherent, honest way, and it's what you really want to share, it will be a win-win, regardless of the "sale."
So as we've discussed, finding God through marketing has some wonderful benefits:
-
Your material results will also correspond with spiritual wealth (sense of oneness and unity)
-
You will improve your communication skills
-
You can help others by modeling effective, soul-based marketing
-
It can help you fulfill your life purpose and make a contribution
-
You will help others and make the world a better place
By getting the right ingredients (the knowledge, tools and attitude), you can turn lead into gold like an alchemist. Following your heart then becomes soul-based marketing. Fears and separation about "selling" can become an opportunity to find unity and communion. You can find God through marketing. . And surely God would like any marketing that helped you, others and the planet.
